Michael Tanner always aspired to be an
artist
and designer.  As a student, he was a
notable fixture in the art department, won
several awards and had his work published
in the school yearbook.

He
later attended the University of Chicago
and the renowned

School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
There, he found great fulfillment in painting,
sculpture, photography and film making.

A short time afterward, he studied
commercial interior design and worked in
the industry for several years.

Michael Tanner's introduction to working
with plants and flowers began as a
designer for a local Dallas floral studio.

In subsequent years, he continued his
studies and discovered a passion for
nature and landscaping...
..
as
a nurseryman, designer, consultant,
project manager and instructor.

He
was on the design staff of several high
profile landscape firms before launching
Michael Tanner Landscape Designs in
2006.

Today,
he continues to apply the classic
principles of fine art and architecture to his
many design projects, both residential and
commercial.
In addition, he is also a prolific
photographer.  Nearly all of the images
found on this web site are his own.

He states:  "It's so amazing and challenging
to work with nature as I do.  A living
landscape grows and evolves as it matures.
Like a painting in which the colors are
constantly changing. My designs
coordinate with the changing of the
seasons, so the landscape always looks
beautiful and interesting."

Michael Tanner has worked in the
landscaping and horticultural trades since
1989.  He currently resides in the Dallas
area with his two dogs, Molly & Snickers.

Remember, if you have a
cat or dog, your backyard
is part of their territory.
Let them enjoy it too!

Landscapes can be
designed and planted to
be very pet friendly.  Let
me show you how.

Molly (above) is a 1
2 yr.
old Golden Retriever who
likes to sun herself on the
patio in the summertime.
MY BEST FRIENDS
And my 10 yr. old Chow,
Snickers, enjoys roaming
throughout his kingdom,
(our backyard).  He loves
being out in the garden
with me, and never
tramples anything I have
planted.
Well......almost never.
